Look Ma! I'm Famous!!!

February 13, 2009

As usual, I am a trendsetter! Recently, I posted my rankings of the Best Picture Oscar Nominees of the past decade. Then I thought to myself, "Hey, wouldn't this be a great suggestion for Filmspotting's Top 5?" So I sent an e-mail their way, and sure enough, they are going to do my top five on next week's show! Exciting, huh?

I'll post a link next Friday. Listen for my name, and imagine me shrieking in delight when you hear it. By the way, it was mentioned during the "On Next Week's Show" portion of this week's podcast episode which you can listen to here--(I'm mentioned around 1:05:30).

I am sure that one day very soon everyone will dress exactly like me!

Hey Brian,

I see you're going to review the Live Action Short Films for InRO. It's a good idea and I was wondering where you can find them for viewing.

Cheers!

They were playing at a theater in DC which usually plays independent films. It's probably only showing in large cities.

You can watch some of them on YouTube. I know you can watch the German nominated short On the Line there. It's not bad.

Also, I know they are often released on DVD at Blockbuster each year, and I heard that they might be available for purchase on Itunes, but I could be wrong.

None of the live action ones are all that spectacular but one of them is quite good--the French short called Manon of the Asphalt. On the Line and the Danish short The Pig are okay. The two shorts about kids--New Boy and especially Toyland--are pretty awful. Toyland especially is pure crap.

Dear B.P.:

As a self-described "Brian's Film Review Blog" buff, I have a suggestion. Do you know how you have the section of movies you've seen but not yet reviewed? I would be very much obliged to see star ratings there. Because as of now, I can only see star ratings of movies you've reviewed or 2008 or 2009 releases. Like I have no idea what you thought of brick, and I haven't been able to sleep for the last few days.

Cordially,

Jack Donaghy

You're lucky I just watched an episode of 30 Rock earlier today or else I would have thought a real NBC executive commented on my blog. Sadly, it was only Wiseguy DB.

I am giving Brick five stars at this point, though I am planning on watching it again very soon. It's definitely my kind of film!

By the way, nice job hyperlinking to nbc.com I'm wondering whether or not you hear voices telling you that you really are the identities you choose for yourself. I guess I can still sleep at night considering that you're not driving yet. Are you? Please tell me you're not!
