Ranking This Decade’s Best Picture Oscar Nominees

In case you can’t tell—I love countdowns and rankings! Therefore, it’s no surprise that I decided to rank the Best Picture Oscar Nominees from this decade when I finally watched all of them. I first made a top 40 ranking in the middle of 2008. Now that the Best Picture noms have been announced, I decided to place the five newest films within the countdown.

Note: I feel like I need to revisit Gosford Park, In the Bedroom, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and Gladiator again soon since my memories of them are somewhat hazy, and I feel that my critical eye has evolved since I was 20 or 21. I have a feeling that I might just enjoy Gosford Park more now that I’m used to Altman’s style.
