The Academy Award Nominations

With nine nominations each, The Hurt Locker and Avatar are the films with the momentum going into the Oscars. These two are most likely the front runners for Best Picture, though I wouldn't count out Inglourious Basterds which received eight nominations.

I agree--Melanie Laurent was fantastic in Basterds. I still need to see a few of the Best Picture nominees, but I also loved Up in the Air and A Serious Man (I reviewed it on my site: http://carly.onsugar.com/7349805). My Netflix acct will be working overtime in the next few weeks!
